About These Field Notes
Written by someone who actually does the work.
My name is Jorden Ross. I'm a third-generation South Floridian and I've been working on landscapes here since 2009. Florida Boys Lawn & Landscape is owner-operated, which means when you call, you get me — not a service desk, not an answering pool, not a manager who's never been on your property. The same is true of these notes. Every piece on this blog is written from things we've seen on actual properties in Boca Raton, Lighthouse Point, Delray Beach, Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach, Gulf Stream, Hillsboro Beach, and Highland Beach — not pulled from someone else's article.
South Florida landscapes are genuinely unique. Salt air, heat, humidity, rainy season, hurricane season, sandy soils that drain like a sieve, and properties built on the water that have to look like a Garden of Eden year-round. Most general landscape advice doesn't survive a single summer here. So instead of giving you the same tips you've read on ten other blogs, we share what we've learned holding the line on premium properties along the coast — what actually works, what wastes money, and what we'd tell a friend who just bought their first home in Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club, Lake Placid, Lighthouse Point, or Camino Gardens.
If something here saves you a phone call, that's the point. If it raises a question you want to think out loud about, you can always call me at 561-886-7982. Property care should feel like having a trusted friend on the grounds with you — quietly handling everything, so you can actually enjoy the home you worked for.
